Poco Super Leo
In June of 2002 I was asked if I would be interested in a horse that needed care. When I went to see him, my first thought was how ugly he was! Leo was standing in a pen with his head down. His coat was long, stringy and shaggy and obviously had not been brushed in a long time. His feet were so long they were splitting apart and he was seriously underweight*.BUT there was something in his eye that told me that underneath this mess of a horse was a gentle soul who needed
someone.
We brought him home and jumped right into trying to rehabilitate him. He turned out to be full of worms and since he had no muscle I needed to rebuild him from the inside out. It has been a rough road, but the
efforts were worth it!
In September he won ribbons at the Santa Cruz County Fair...In October he won the High Point Award in his division at the Region 16 California Gymkhana Association Show!
Today he is strong and beautiful with his confidence restored. He no longer stands with his head down. I’ve worked with many horses over the years to get them back into shape and have then placed them into good homes and Leo is no exception. But in this case, this particular horse has found an unusual home for the duration of his life with me.
He is no longer ugly, in fact, I think he is absolutely gorgeous but more than anything else POCO SUPER LEO has become my friend.
