Education Program

At Dreamor Ranch, Education is our number one job...

And if we have a good time while learning about horses, well, what can be wrong with that? We believe that we are ALL still learning....from the Trainer and Owner of the ranch to the Students taking lessons...all of us are scholars of the Equine species. No question is ever dumb or stupid, and a new fact or horse theory - when uncovered - is shared by everyone. To better understand and be able to successfully work with these huge creatures we call horses is a goal...and a gift...

In this educational process, we offer:

1. Riding Lessons (see Training page)

2. Clinics -

    a. Basic Horsemanship - Care, Working around horses, beginning horse back riding

    b. Feeds and Proper Feeding - How to feed your horse correctly and avoid serious health problems

    c. Trailering Your Horse - The "right" way to load your horse so they will willingly get in on their own. Includes Starting young horses loading.

    d. Pulling Your Trailer - Get over your fear of pulling your trailer. Hands on learning how to pull, back up, etc.

    e. Emergency Procedures - Emergencies happen to both people and horses. Learn when it is serious enough to require immediate attention and when it can wait. Also learn "what" to do while waiting for a Vet or ambulance. Basic First aid included.

    f. Show Grooming - Whether you want to show or just keep your horse looking great, learn the basics of grooming your horse and keeping him looking good.

    g. Gymkhana Eventing - "How" to run barrels and poles. Learn the event patterns.

    h. Working with Colts - Learn how to start your horse off right so that each step of his training goes smoothly.

    i. Problem Solving - Based on a behavioral approach, learn how to break bad habits and build good ones.

3. Field Trips - we take our students to other facilities and equine activities to get a broader view of the horse world in general.

4. Beach Rides - What would riding be if we couldn't have fun?????

5. Gymkhana Competitions (barrel racing) - monthly

6. Team Penning Practices and Competitions (working with cattle)

7. Horse Shows

.........................but the emphasis is ALWAYS on enjoying the experience and learning, rather than winning. Everyone works as a team, not an individual, and whether we win or lose in the ribbons, we cheer each other on. Our greatest rewards are in the "experience".

We also work with local Schools, Home School Programs, FFA and 4H Groups with lessons and clinics on various topics. Want YOUR school to be involved? Email us!
